A Downton Abbey Wedding

I can get a little nuts about wedding shows. A Say Yes To The Dress marathon will keep me on the couch all afternoon. So of course this Downton Abbey-inspired wedding peaked my interest. Not to say that I am chomping at the bit for a big day of my own, but googling 'edwardian engagement ring' will do crazy things to a girl.

Textiles from Afghanistan

I just got back from a nice week at home. I enjoyed lots of family time and new quilts! These photos are of the Afghani wall hanging that's over my parents' bed.

My Block

My landlord pitched the exterior of my house as 'urban camouflage'

On an evening walk around my neighbourhood. My block is more likely to be found in an episode of Portlandia than in Scarface's Houston but I'm listening to this anyway.

They like it! They like it!

If there's one thing cats like to do, it's getting dressed up and posed in uncomfortable positions.

I have been checking Beyoncé's tumblr everyday. If I'm not careful, Milk and Bread will become a Knowles family fan blog. I'm holding back. Ok back to my essay...

April 11

I just had my final critique at NSCAD but still have essays to plough through while snacking on banana pudding. This collection is calm, spring-like and a break from readin' and writin'.

For Easter

I embroidered these rabbits on a turkey feather in 2010. You can see more of my work right here.

This easter I am heading into deepest Nova Scotia for a small town holiday. A family dinner, historic home stay and rural walks are on the itinerary.

Good Friday

When I was a kid, me and my sisters along with our favourite neighbours put together an annual outdoor showcase of bunny-themed talent on easter weekend. It had a theme tune, choreographed numbers, and rabbit ears for all. We called it the Bunnykin Circus and its rehearsals marked the arrival of spring and the shedding of winter layers. Soon we would stay out late on warm nights for neighbourhood games of tag and bicycle to the store to buy penny candy for casino-style games of go fish.

Wildlife Photography

Literacy in the animal kingdom is rare. But sometimes in the springtime foxes and bears gather in Toronto backyards to discuss the arts.

Liberty, make me an athlete!

It's pathetic really. My athletic days ended with the cross country ski season in high school. Now I walk up a Halifax hill (they are steep) and feel like I've accomplished a fitness goal. Maybe all I need is some Nike X Liberty gear. Then I will run with ease the trails of Point Pleasant Park and when I pull out my Liberty print hankie to mop the sweat from my brow I will feel like a real athlete.
