What Remains, installed

Here are some photos of my grad show called What Remains. The work is based on the life of a mysterious recluse. Have a look at my website for more images.

Lindsay Taylor

An embroiderer making 3D works! This one is based on a 17th century painting by Jan Weenix called Flowers On A Fountain With A Peacock.  See more of Lindsay's work on her website and blog.

What Remains installed at the Gladstone Hotel photo by Hannah Sherrett

I had a great time at my grad show opening last night. It feels so good to have everything I've made move from my studio out into the world for people to see. The show runs until Saturday and I'll be giving a talk tomorrow at noon in the gallery space.

Tap Break

I'm taking a break from sewing to tap dance a little. I am just a youtube-lesson beginner. My novice taps and stamps are in time to Nas's Get Down. I'm practising on a piece of leather so that my neighbours won't mind.

Human Nature: Debbie Carlos

I am so keen on Debbie Carlos's photographs of taxidermied wildlife displays at Chicago's Field Museum.

Scoldy-Lox

Here I am arranging dangling threads at Seeds Gallery today (sunglasses and trench coat  - it felt like spring!). The work is called Never Let Your Hair Down and is based on designs of bobby pin packages from the 1940s-60s. I am up late drinking tea and eating Mini Eggs while I write a letter of intent and finish readings for tomorrow. You can see more of my work right here.

Mr. Porter

I was googling to book a Porter Airlines flight when I came across Mr. Porter, a website for the discerning gentleman. Who is this Mr. Porter? Is he looking for a Mrs. Porter?

Windhorse Farm

The eight of us had a really great weekend at our cabin retreat. Wintery walks, pelts to warm benches, an afternoon spent in the sauna, wonderful food and great company made it very special. Now I'm back in Halifax sewing like a Triangle Shirtwaist Factory worker (well maybe not that hard - I get breaks, and have rights) to complete work for my upcoming show.

Weekend retreat

I'm all packed and ready to leave for a weekend in the woods. Wool everything, flashlights and lots of good food fill my bags. I've posted a few new items on Milk and Bread  - expect more in the coming week.
