Vivian Maier's secret body of work was discovered in 2007 at a thrift auction house in Chicago. The collection of over 100,000 negatives had been broken up after the contents of her storage locker were sold. She photographed street scenes, her daily life and the life of the children she cared for from the 1950s to late 1990s. Above is a selection of her self portraits.
