this looks most like our chair -

meghan and i were lucky enough to find a great chair one night walking home - upon further research, i discovered it's a
tripolina chair. these kinds of chairs first presented themselves around the 1900's, and were used by english troops.
i made several unsuccessful searches about butterfly, or BKF chairs, and couldn't find any with a wooden frame like ours, until i realized the BKF chair was inspired by the original tripolina. i can't say for sure how old ours is, but judging by the wood and hardware, it is definitely 20th century.
this website suggests it could have been made in italy in the 1930's.
this kind of chair has evolved into the less-pleasant looking backyard folding chair, often seen around camp fires with aluminum cans tucked into the pockets.
ours still needs a seat made - the leather ones look beautiful, but something like canvas would be perfect for our house.
